Welcome and thank you for taking the time to visit my site. I’m Frank and the main topic of my site is board games, specifically I have a passion and deep love for fantasy style board games. But really I’m happy to be sat around a table with many board games of various genres.
More recently I have also taken a keen interest in gaming on computers, the internet and the role that the internet has had on society and particularly within the board games and online gaming worlds.
With the introduction of websites such as Kickstarter and IndieGogo the dynamic and way development happens is now ever changing and continually being optimised. Many games are now funded by the fans and game players who are desperate to see new games or expansion packs and this crowdfunding style fascinates me.
When it’s all said and done, the most important thing is that new games and expansions are being worked on and the fans are getting value for their money.
I’ve been playing board games for around 50 years and naturally no-one could have foreseen this kind of development in the industry. Speaking as a fan first and foremost, I think it’s exciting.
The hardest thing for me these days is to keep up with the new releases of both new titles and reinventions of existing classics, not to mention the expansion packs!
So with this site I aim to do a couple of things. Generally I will review and critique board games that I enjoy playing myself and try to give a walk through in simple terms of how to play the game. A tutorial of sorts.
I do tend to go into a lot of detail and I know this has been appreciated before by readers of work I’ve contributed to other sites in this area. So I’ll aim to keep up with that.
Secondly, more recently I’ve been enjoying digging through the numbers of games that have been started on the likes of Kickstarter. My main aim with this is to make sure they get fulfilled and the fans get what they have been promised. Not really social justice but certainly an amount of accountability. I don’t have any plan to this just yet but I’m seeing where it takes me.
That’s all for now. Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy the site. Don’t forget you can leave me a comment or some feedback on my contact page.
